EveryToonie is built around one core rule: the financial information you enter — your accounts, balances, budget, contribution room, retirement inputs — is never sent anywhere. It's stored only in your own browser's local storage. This page explains exactly what that means, and what little data does leave your device.
What we don't collect
There is no sign-up, no account, no login, and no bank linking. We have no server-side database of users, so there is nothing tied to your name, email, or identity that we hold — because we never receive it in the first place. Everything you type into EveryToonie (net worth entries, budget lines, debt details, contribution room figures, retirement assumptions) is written to your browser's local storage and stays on your device. Clearing your browser data, using a private/incognito window, or switching devices will erase it, since nothing is backed up on our end.
What we do collect
Site analytics. We use Netlify Analytics, which measures traffic from server logs rather than a tracking script running in your browser. It does not use cookies and does not track you individually across visits — it reports aggregate numbers like page views, top pages, and referring sites. We use this only to understand which pages and content are useful, not to identify individual visitors.
Fonts. This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser makes a direct request to Google's servers to fetch those font files, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request, under Google's own privacy policy. We don't control or see that data ourselves.
Affiliate links. Some blog posts contain referral links to third-party financial products (for example EQ Bank or Wealthsimple), clearly disclosed on the post itself. If you click through and sign up, that provider handles your information under their own privacy policy — we never see your application or account details, and neither the click nor the signup passes through our servers. We simply may receive a referral bonus if you sign up, at no extra cost to you.
Cookies
EveryToonie does not set its own cookies. Local storage (used to save your entries inside the app) is a different, browser-only mechanism — it isn't transmitted anywhere and isn't accessible to other websites.
Children's privacy
EveryToonie is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13.
Your rights
Because we don't hold personal data on a server, there's generally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf — the data you entered into the app is already fully in your control on your own device, and you can clear or export it at any time from within the app. If you have a question about the limited data described above (analytics or affiliate referrals), you can reach out using the contact information below.
Changes to this policy
If how EveryToonie handles data changes — for example, if a future version adds optional bank account linking — this page will be updated first, with a new "last updated" date above, before that feature ships.
